Chanel is one of the worlds most luxurious brands, the Chanel Classic Flap Bags are icons of the fashion industry since it's introduction 1955 and is one of our favorite bags to buy!

​In 1910 Gabrielle 'Coco' Chanel started selling women's hats in the now famous Rue Cambon, known as the the place where Chanel started, it's is now the center of high fashion in Paris with other notorious brands in the surrounding area.

Her hats were worn by well known French actresses, and 2 years later she opened up the first Chanel Boutique, which sold ladies sportswear made from jersey material, which was previously used for men's underwear. This revolutionized women's fashion and helped change the relationship women had with their bodies.

Chanel's success continued as she opened a boutique at 31 rue Cambon which housed a salon and workshops. She continued to revolutionize women's fashion with perfume's, makeups and a skincare range. Expanding into clothing and jewellery, she would design for Hollywood movies and the stars.

And in 1955 Chanel created the 2.55 handbag, a luxurious leather bag with a sliding chain that could be used with one hand free, with all modern Chanel classic flaps being based on this single design. In 2005 they reissued the bag as seen below.
